Christmas Bells

Selection by Gordon & Beverley Dick, 'Southern Bells'

Flower care

  • look for flowers with at least one bell opening, but not all open.
  • recut stems and put back in water with preservative soon as possible
  • flowers drink plenty of water but wilted flowers will soon recover.
  • use 20g sugar and 3g citric acid per 10 litres of preservative solution to help bud opening.
  • storage temperature should be around 6-10°C, lower temperatures cause spotting on flowers.
  • maintain high humidity around flowers by using sleeves or wraps.
